BEIJING — May 22, 2025 — Xiaomi has officially unveiled its first electric SUV, the YU7, during a major product event held today in Beijing. The event also featured the debut of the company’s new flagship smartphone and its self-developed XringO1 advanced mobile chip.
Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun confirmed that the YU7 is slated to enter the Chinese market in July 2025, following the successful launch of the SU7 electric sedan earlier this year. The YU7 aims to compete directly with Tesla’s Model Y, which currently starts at ¥263,500 ($36,579) in China
While the YU7 was showcased today, Xiaomi has announced that official pricing details and preorders will not be available until closer to the market launch. Industry analysts anticipate a starting price between ¥250,000 and ¥300,000 ($34,400–$41,300), positioning it competitively within the electric SUV segment.
The YU7 is expected to feature:
Advanced autonomous driving capabilities, indicated by a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor.
A next-generation infotainment system powered by Xiaomi’s proprietary HyperOS.
A driving range exceeding 600 kilometers on a single charge, supported by a CATL-sourced battery pack.
A dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivering a combined output of 681 horsepower (508 kW).
Production of the YU7 will take place at Xiaomi’s Beijing facilities, with the company aiming to commence deliveries shortly after the official market launch in July.
As Xiaomi continues its strategic expansion into the electric vehicle market, the YU7 represents a significant step in integrating cutting-edge technology with automotive engineering.
